Lisbon hosts the ASD Convention



Lisbon hosts from the 10th to the 12th of October 2012, the annual  Convention of the AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD).

Organized by AICEP and DANOTEC, the ASD Convention -  the largest and most important event of the sector in Europe -  involves a total of 1,000 people, of which 530 delegate representatives of European associations, in addition to Prime Contractor Board Members, European Commissioners and members of the European Parliament.

In 2012, for the first time, the ASD Convention will include a Technology Forum, which aims at offering a real opportunity for networking, the exchange of business and technical information and the promotion of cooperation in the area of Ideas and Talent, among the participating companies and research and education establishments

ASD has 28 member associations in 20 countries (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden Switzerland, Turkey and the UK), representing more than 2,000 companies with approximately 80,000 suppliers that generate an annual turnover of 163 billion Euros.

ASD represents the Aeronautics, Space, Security and Defence industries in Europe. These industries, in turn, generate a turnover of approximately 163 billion Euros, employ some 700,000 people and encompass over 2,000 companies and 80,000 suppliers, many of which are SMEs.
