Decorre amanhã, dia 4 de Novembro, pelas 18 horas, na Galeria Almada Negreiros do Consulado Geral em Toronto, a inauguração da exposição "Retrospectiva" de Luis Paiva de Carvalho. A mostra estará patente ao público até ao próximo dia 26 de Novembro, podendo ser visitada todos os dias úteis entre as 8,30 e as 15 horas.
Luís José Paiva de Carvalho was born in Portugal, in the city of Oporto, in 1930. Between 1948 and 1985 he lived in Angola, returning to Portugal in 1985. For family reasons, he immigrated to Canada in 1994, settling in Oakville, where he passed away on October 22, 2006. Paiva de Carvalho entered the plastic arts field in 1959. Self taught, his first showing took place in 1961, at the Cultural Society of Angola. Paiva de Carvalho’s works can be found in Angolan and Portuguese museums and in many private collections. Distinguished with several prizes and honourable mentions, he was a member of the Oakville Art Society, Oakville Arts Council and an associate of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour.
