The Wonders of Nature

Com abertura oficial a 7 de Dezembro, pelas 18H00, informa-se de que se encontra patente ao público, na Galeria Almada Negreiros, do Consulado-Geral de Portugal em Toronto, de 2 a 30 de Dezembro de 2010, a exposição de pintura THE WONDERS OF NATURE, do jovem artista luso-canadiano Leo Dias. Leo Dias tem como fonte de inspiração a exploração das maravilhas da natureza. Um pôr de sol, uma flor, ou mesmo a simples reflexão de um raio de luz na água, nunca será para ele algo além do que ele presencia naquele momento. O próprio acto de pintar, proporciona-lhe oportunidade de introspecção e autoconhecimento em relação àquilo que o rodeia e à sua própria maneira de estar no mundo. Torna-se numa espécie de transposição de si próprio para a tela. Esta fusão de auto-exploração e criação de arte, deve-se também ao seu actual estudo de espiritualismo e filosofia budista. Tendo participado em várias exposições individuais e colectivas, nomeadamente na Gallery 888 e em restaurantes e cafés da Grande Toronto, as pinturas e esculturas de Leo Dias encontram-se representadas em muitas colecções privadas.

Officially opening on December 7th, at 6 pm, the exhibit THE WONDERS OF NATURE, by Leo Dias, is available for public viewing from December 2nd through to December 30th, 2010, at the Almada Negreiros Art Gallery of the Consulate General. Leo’s inspiration is found in exploring the wonders of nature. A sunset, a flower or something as simple as the reflection of light on water does not try to be anything other than what it is at that moment in time. The process of painting also invariably becomes a means for the solitary contemplation of self-discovery on how he perceives the world and how he conducts himself within it. It becomes an expression of his state of being at the time of creating the paintings. This fusion of creating art and self-exploration can be attributed to his current study of spiritualism and philosophies of Buddhism. With several exhibits to his credit, namely at Gallery 888 and in restaurants and coffee shops in the greater Toronto area, Leo Dias’ paintings and sculptures can be found in many private collection.
