Visitas de estudantes do TCDSB a Portugal

No quadro do reforço do relacionamento institucional entre o Camões I.P. e o Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB), será assinado no dia 23 de Outubro pelas 15,45 horas na sede daquela primeira instituição (80 Sheppard Ave. E., North York) um aditamento ao memorando de entendimento celebrado no passado mês de Março, mediante o qual se viabiliza a visita a Portugal, já a partir do Verão de 2013, de estudantes do ensino secundário canadiano que cursem os seus estudos no TCDSB, para efeitos de aprofundamento dos seus conhecimentos da língua e cultura portuguesa.

Os alunos serão acompanhados por professores do TCDSB e esta instituição irá procurar promover a atribuição de bolsas de estudos que permitam ajudar ao pagamento das despesas em que incorrerão os alunos com aquelas visitas.

Estas visitas podem também candidatar-se à atribuição de apoios por parte da DGACCP (Direção Geral dos Assuntos Consulares e Comunidades Portuguesas), através do programa de apoio a visitas de estudo (http://www.secomunidades.pt/c/portal/layout?p_l_id=PUB.1.348).

TCDSB SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH INSTITUTO CAMÕES

Opportunity for Toronto Secondary Students to Study Abroad in Portugal

The Toronto Catholic District School Board is signing a letter of agreement with the Instituto Camões to provide Ontario Ministry-approved secondary school courses and Portuguese as a second language accreditation certificate credits through the Instituto Camões in Portugal. The letter of agreement will be signed by the Consul General of Portugal, Julio Vilela, and TCDSB Director Bruce Rodrigues and TCDSB Associate Director Angela Gauthier.

The TCDSB and Instituto Camões are providing Toronto students with an opportunity to experience Portuguese culture and to strengthen the already strong personal ties between the people of Portugal and the people of Canada Students will earn dual credits from Ontario and the Institute Camoes. 

The students will travel to Portugal in the summer of 2013 to be taught Ontario Ministry of Education courses by TCDSB employed qualified teachers and to experience Portugal, its people and culture. TCDSB teacher Lisa Gomes, who will be the program co-ordinator, has been the driving force behind the agreement, which lays a solid foundation for future opportunities and partnerships with the Institute Camoes and the Portuguese Consulate, such as a semester overseas for TCDSB students and/or a semester with the TCDSB for Portuguese students. 

The promotion of Portuguese language abroad falls under the responsibility of the Instituto Camões , which is under the jurisdiction of the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Services to the Institute are provided by the Consulate General of Portugal in Toronto.

Students will be responsible for all travel and accommodation costs incurred, however, the TCDSB is exploring scholarship opportunities. The program is open to all secondary students in the Toronto area.
