On Friday, March 09 2012, at 7:30pm, The Alliance Française de Toronto - Galerie Pierre Léon, located at 24 Spadina Road, Toronto, presents Quand la Ville Nous Habite, a multilingual cabaret-chanson exploring “The city within”, starring Patricia Cano, Louis Simão and Carlos Bernardo, on guitar.
Whether by birth or adoption, most of us, at the dawning of the 21st Century, are children of the city. Just as the urban fabric that we've long taken for granted is beinthreatened in the political arena, this cabaret-chanson is a timely celebration of the rich and often complex relationship we have with our cities. Though he is of Portuguese origin, Louis Simão learned to walk on the sidewalks of our city. Though her roots are in Peru, Patricia Cano grew up in Sudbury before calling Toronto home. Their artistic paths have led them down the streets of New York and Paris, Lisbon and Lima. Revisiting a handful of songs that celebrate some of the great cities of the world, Quand la ville nous habite ("The City within") explores questions of origin and belonging that are at the very heart of our urban experience. Admission is 15$; (free for AFT members and students) If interested, please RSVP to culturel@alliance-francaise.ca
